In a written statement, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said today: ''After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.'' 10/5/11 7:07pm ET
Palin said that she would love to be president but she just couldn't handle the 2-year commitment.
ESPN dropped Hank Williams Jr. from opening Monday Night Football last night after he likened the golf summit between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner to ''Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu,'' in that Obama and Vice President Biden are ''the enemy.'' Williams now says his comments were ''misunderstood.'' 10/4/11 1:07pm ET
Dear ESPN, I have written and recorded a song called "The I Do Believe It's Football Time Rag." Tell me where to send it.
This Sunday's '60 Minutes' will be Andy Rooney's last regular appearance on the broadcast. Rooney (92) has been featured on the show since 1978. He'll make the announcement in his regular essay (his 1097th) at the end of the program, which will be preceded by a segment in which Rooney looks back on his career in an interview with Morley Safer. 9/28/11 6:07pm ET
Rooney apparently wanted more time to prepare for his role in the live-action version of 'Up'.
[Confirmed by PETA today, originally posted on 8/18/11] PETA is launching a porn site that draws attention to the plight of animals. The organization's spokeswoman says PETA officials will ''track the website to determine if people are viewing the animal rights messages and not just the nudity. Past experience has shown that they will.'' 9/21/11 6:41pm ET
PETA plans to launch a new porn site to raise awareness about veganism by mixing images of naked women and animal suffering. The worst part: at least one guy somewhere heard that and went "Finally!"
At Facebook's f8 conference in San Francisco today, CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the next evolution of the service, including an overhaul to the user profile called ''Timeline,'' which he called ''the story of your life.'' Timeline is a more visual profile that lets users highlight the key moments of their lives outside their everyday updates. 9/22/11 4:44pm ET
Facebook announced a change to its interface called Timeline, which will let users share pictures and videos in real-time. Because we've all been thinking: come at me faster, other people's sonograms.
A policy banning open homosexuality in the U.S. military has been repealed after nearly two decades. Introduced during the Clinton years, the end of ''don't ask, don't tell'' means service members can now reveal they are gay without fear of investigation or discharge. 9/20/11 1:13pm ET
On Tuesday, the day that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" officially ended, Marine officials went to gay community centers to recruit to troops. Gay community centers? Oh, gyms. They went to gyms.
In a speech from the Rose Garden today, President Obama called for $1.5 trillion in new tax revenue as part of a proposal to tame the nation's rocketing federal debt, including new taxes on the wealthy, a special new tax for millionaires, and closing loopholes for those making over $250,000 per year. ''This is not class warfare,'' Obama said. ''It's math.'' 9/19/11 3:04pm ET
President Obama defended his new proposed tax rate for millionaires, saying "this not class warfare, it's math." Which is unfortunate, because America is much better at warfare than math.
In a fiery speech to a joint session of Congress last night, President Obama unveiled and called for immediate action on his 'American Jobs Act,' a $447 billion package of spending initiatives and tax cuts designed to jump-start the stalling economy and create new jobs. 9/9/11 1:08pm ET
I think the greatest insult to a speech would be if no one live-blogged it.

Mitt Romney and Rick Perry are emerging as the victors of last night's Republican debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA. The Washington Post and The Daily Beast called Romney the clear winner, while the National Journal split his victory with Perry, and The New Republic called Perry the sole victor. 9/8/11 2:53pm ET
Is this the debate with the trap doors under the podiums or is it the next one?

No matter your politics, I think we can all agree that Mormons tan well.
President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner slugged it out via memo today over the night the president wants to present his jobs plan to Congress (Wednesday, September 7th). Boehner says the House won't be in session that day until 6:30 p.m., which wouldn't give them enough time to host the president at 8:00. The night also happens to be slated for a nationally televised debate for the eight GOP contenders for president. 8/31/11 7:32pm ET
You know what Obama should do for his jobs speech? Hire a million people to help him write it.
In an op-ed piece in The New York Times today, legendary investor Warren Buffett (80) said it's time to stop coddling the super-rich and to increase the taxes they pay. Buffett, believed to be the 3rd richest person in the world with a net worth of $50 billion, called on Congress to create a budget that forces the top 0.3% of income earners to accept ''shared sacrifice.'' 8/15/11 5:36pm ET
Warren Buffett's Op-Ed today is good reading. Plus I bet he wrote it with the world's nicest pen.

Went to a bar with S&P last night. They told me a girl was a perfect 10 but turned out it was just a garbage bag full of wigs.
